"Bring up a child in the way he should go and when he is old, he will not depart from it" Proverbs 22:6
It was when her youngest daughter headed off to school she realized she needed something else to do. Little did she know that day she reached out to Mrs. Weathers 16 years ago that she would still be teaching and now handling the preschool finances and payroll. The preschool is blessed to have her as a mentor and by going the extra mile; always available to lend a helping hand in any way. She is often one step ahead.
Currently Mrs. Balmer teaches Enrichment in the Noah room. If at any time you peek in her door you will likely see something messy being done at the tables. She loves to "get in there" and let the kids explore through texture and various materials and art. Mrs. Balmer has a calming tone when she is working with the children; she is encouraging, patient and kind. She says her biggest payback is when she sees something new "click". She remembers a student learning to write the number three. He exclaimed he could do it! "Awound and dop awound and dop" (around and stop) The pride on his face made her day. She recalls another student who when school started could not write her name. The first time that child's name appeared on paper was a celebration for sure!
Mrs. Balmer is married and has three grown daughters. They each have their interests and activities so she is often coming and going to spread her time among them. She enjoys her pool in the summer time and watching basketball during the cold months. She has been blessed to work at Grace and looks forward to the opportunity of serving several more to come.
